Background of the Study
Supply chain transparency is increasingly recognized as a critical factor for enhancing stakeholder trust, especially in large multinational companies like Nestlé Nigeria. Transparency within a supply chain involves making all aspects of the supply process—from sourcing raw materials to final product delivery—visible and accessible to stakeholders. This level of openness helps in building accountability and ensuring that corporate practices align with environmental, ethical, and social expectations. For Nestlé Nigeria, a key player in the food and beverage industry, maintaining a transparent supply chain not only strengthens its market position but also builds confidence among customers, investors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
In Benue State, a major source of agricultural raw materials for Nestlé, the importance of supply chain transparency is particularly evident. With increasing consumer awareness regarding sustainability, health, and ethical sourcing, stakeholders demand greater visibility into the processes that govern the products they consume. Transparency is essential in addressing concerns about food safety, environmental impact, and fair trade practices. This study seeks to explore the relationship between supply chain transparency at Nestlé Nigeria in Benue State and its influence on building and maintaining trust among its stakeholders.
